You can adjust the Genie garage door opener’s force settings in just a few minutes. Here are five simple steps:
- Press and hold the “Open Set” and “Close Set” buttons on the control panel. A green light will come on. This means that you have deleted the existing limit settings.
- Quick-press the “Close Travel Limit” button. The chain or belt connector will move toward the carriage assembly.
- Hold the “Close Travel Limit” button until the garage door is lowered to the floor.
- Press the “Close Set” button to memorize the closed position of the garage door. The green indicator light will turn on. From now on, the opener will recognize this door position as closed.
- Press the “Open Travel Limit” button. Hold it until the door is fully open.
- Press the “Open Set” button. The green light will blink twice to confirm the change of settings. The opener will recognize this door position as closed.
- Adjust the “Close Force” value. This determines the force the opener uses to close the garage door. Turn “Close Force” to the right or left, depending on whether you want it increased or decreased.
- Same with the “Open Force” setting. Turn it to the right to increase or to the left to decrease the force.
