Sometimes an old battery can be the cause of opener malfunction. It’s best to replace the battery about once a year. It’s done in a few simple steps:
- Unplug the opener.
- Open the lens cover.
- Use a screwdriver to remove the battery case.
- Pull out the batteries and disconnect them from the wiring.
- Connect the new batteries to the wires. Make sure that the red wire is connected to the red terminal and vice versa.
- Insert new batteries into the battery compartment and put it back into the garage door opener.
Don’t forget safety precautions when replacing the battery: use safety glasses and gloves.
